Igor works for OCWC as an Operations Manager and Open Education Specialist. Igor has worked on numerous education projects as a researcher, evaluator and a coordinator. His main interests include social, economic and political development, the use of web 2.0 technologies for advancement of teaching and learning, Open Educational Resources, OER business and sustainability models, widening/increasing access to education through open education, certification/validation of learning through open education and open policies.


Chahira NouiraChahira Nouira

Chahira Nouira is currently a Research Associate at the United Nations University, specialising in e-learning. She holds a masters degree in Entrepreneurship from the Universite de Sousse, and specialises in communication through social media platforms and open educational resoruces.

Mathieu Plourde is the LMS Project Leader with IT Academic Technology Services at the University of Delaware. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design (2000) and an M.B.A. (2006), both acquired at Université Laval, Quebec City, Canada. He is now pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, U.S.A., and teaching a class on social networking for educators. His multidisciplinary background (graphic, web and instructional design, IT, marketing, e-commerce, management, communication, education, etc.) gives him a unique view of teaching, learning, and user support. He is also a huge social media junkie and an open education advocate.

Tim is secretary for the Open Education special interest group and currently works for the TESS-India project delivering teacher education through Open Educational Resources (OER). Tim has worked in the field of OER over a number of years through the Support Centre for Open Resources in Education at the Open University and Queen Mary University disseminating cutting edge biomedical research to learners through the development of a combination of online OER and real life interactive experience.

Nadia MirelesNadia Mireles

Nadia holds a double degree Master in E-learning from the Open University of Catalonia and the University of Guadalajara. Currently, she is a doctoral student at the Higher Education and Leadership Doctoral program (via online delivery) at the University of Calgary. Her research interests focus on the Open Educative Resources in developing and Spanish-speaking countries, specifically in the Latin American region.

For 6 years she worked at the U. of Guadalajara in the areas of ICTs, Computer Assisted Language Learning and Self-Access Centers and at the Internationalization Office. She was author and project manager of federal-funded projects related to language learning with use of ICTs.

Since 2008, she collaborates for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) at the Knowledge and Learning Department as an e-learning and instructional design consultant.

She is a blogger at the IDB´s blog on Education. She is the author and director of the video “Open Education Matters: Why is it important to share content?”, which won the 3rd place at the US Dept of Education and Cretive Commons contest.
